My Story

RichardRichard: During my undergraduate studies we had many students from the Pacific Islands who would prepare traditional feasts and dances.
Australians really appreciate international students.

IyadIyad: I felt more welcome in Australia than I did in any other country. Australian universities are very experienced in hosting international students. The environment is very welcoming and multi-cultural, and life is quite relaxed.

NoamanNoaman: My friends and I did some research on potential destinations and shortlisted top universities that offered the course and subjects that we were after... My tips - Just go for it!!! When you land, interact with all people and do NOT confine yourself to the group that you belong. You'll learn a lot more.

The Expat Experience

Here and Away

There are many expatriates living in the Middle East. In fact, in UAE the majority of residents are expatriates. In this section, they share their experiences here and whilst studying in Australia. Recently we asked, "What was your most memorable moment as an international student?"

NOAMAN: I experienced a BIZARRE incident at the time of my graduation ceremony. We threw our graduation hats in the air for a photograph but the individual behind me forgot to hold on to his - and believe it or not - the hat hit my head so hard I was knocked unconscious for a wee bit, with blood all over! Paramedics were called in and then the medical rounds. Many of you may find it hard to believe, but I have priceless photos taken by my friends to prove it!
