FAQ's from MEGAA Members
Attestation / Notorisation of Documents
GENERAL: All tertiary education documents must be notarised by a Notary Public or verified by the central Student Administration area of the issuing institution. Notaries are senior Australian legal practitioners who authenticate, prepare, attest, witness and certify original and copy legal documents for use overseas. If you are already overseas, the Australian Embassy performs notarial acts, for which fees are charged, but please note UAE requirements are different, see below. Read more from DFAT
UAE: All documents being submitted to any UAE authority must be attested by the Department of Foreign Affairs in the country where the document originates. 1/ Please contact the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade in the State where your document was issued for information about this procedure or alternatively view their respective web site for up-to-date information on how to obtain the required attestation/notarisation. See the list on the left. Please note fees apply for attestation services and also courier costs maybe applicable for the safe return of documents. 2/ When the document has been returned to you, it should be attested by the Australian Consulate General in Dubai or the Australian Embassy in Abu Dhabi. 3/ It should then be attested by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Migration
Migrants are people moving permanently to Australia or returning from overseas. The Department of Immigration & Multicultural Affairs (DIMA) is the government body that handles migration.
WORKERS: There are a number of visa options available for people who want to migrate permanently to Australia and who have the required skills and qualifications. See Workers at DIMA web site.
BUSINESS PEOPLE: Some people can to come to Australia for a business-related visit, to establish, manage or develop a new or existing business, or invest in Australia. See Business People at DIMA.
FAMILY MEMBERS: There a number of migration options for people intending to get married and partners, children, parents and other family members of Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or eligible New Zealand citizens. See Family Members at DIMA web site.
REFUGEE OR HUMANITARIAN ENTRANTS: Some people may seek assistance under the refugee and humanitarian programme. See Refugees & Humanitarian at DIMA web site.
MIGRATION AGENT: You do not need to use a migration agent to lodge any kind of visa application or asylum claim. Your application will not be decided any sooner if you use a migration agent and they cannot influence the outcome of your application. However, if you do not feel confident in lodging an application, or if your case is complex, you may wish to use a migration agent to help you. See Migration Agent at DIMA web site.
