The new Victoria International School of Sharjah, is scheduled to open in September 2007 to provide quality education to both international and Emirati students, with an Australian curriculum and qualification.

The 85,000 square meter site of the Victoria International School is in the prestigious Al Mamzar lagoons area of Sharjah. Construction of the buildings and facilities for the school is progressing according to plan and will be completed by May 2007.

The school will eventually enroll up to 3000 students from kindergarten to year 12. The school will provide a great opportunity for young people living in the UAE to gain a world-recognized Australian education. The year 12 qualification that will be offered at the school is an internationally recognized qualification from the Australian state of Victoria called the Victorian Certificate of Education or VCE. This highly regarded qualification will allow the school’s graduates to pursue their study and career pathways at leading universities in Australia as well as Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East.

In addition to Australian students who wish to continue their Australian education while living in the UAE, the Victoria International School of Sharjah is ideal for Emerati and expatriate school-aged children who are interested in enhancing their future international education prospects. Attendance at the Victoria International School would give the students all the advantages an international qualification offers without having to live away from home.

The Victorian approach to schooling is very student centered. Each student has an individual learning plan tailored to his or her learning needs. Enrichment programs are provided for gifted and high potential students and there is an intervention program for students in need of additional support to meet Victoria’s educational goals and standards. Victoria’s Department of Education & Training will continuously monitor the quality of the educational environment and the students’ outcomes exactly like other schools in Victoria.

The beautiful and unique design of this new school, by Victorian architectural firm Taylor Oppenheim Pty Ltd, incorporates the latest thinking of how school layout adds to student learning.

When the school opens in September next year, grades Prep to 9 will be offered with grades 10, 11 and 12 being added in successive years.
